    What are Cannabis Terpenes

    What Are Terpenes?

Each strain of cannabis has its own unique, comforting scent and taste profile. This is caused by naturally occurring terpenes found in plants’ essential oils. Knowing your terpenes will help you understand and appreciate your marijuana more than you already do. The terpenes in each strain may even provide as many benefits as the cannabinoid content of this medicinal plant.

Healthy, What are Cannabis TerpenesWhat are Cannabis Terpenes?

Have you ever looked at a bud of your favourite strain and seen crystal-like resin? Those are the naturally occurring terpenes of the plant and they’re responsible for the different scents and flavour profiles you experience. At their base form, they are a combination of carbon and hydrogen that are produced in mushroom-shaped resin glands on the flowers. As with all strong-smelling plants and flowers, they adapted this over time to repel pests and lure pollinators.

There are over 100 different terpenes that have been identified in the cannabis plant and they do more than just create scents. Common terpenes found in the botanic world like soothing menthol and calming myrcene are medicinally beneficial.

    What Do Terpenes Do?

Terpenes have been proven to have as many as cannabinoids in marijuana. These aroma compounds are therapeutic and with the cannabinoids create an “entourage effect”. This just means that they all work together to enhance the medicinal benefits of the plant. Terpenes are believed to enhance the high in positive ways.

Healthy, What are Cannabis TerpenesThe Terpene Chart

There are more than 20,000 different terpenes in nature. The cannabis plant has 100 of these terpenes, I’ll talk about the ones that are in high concentrations in this medicinal bud.

    Myrcene

Myrcene is the main terpene found in the cannabis plant and can make up to 65% of the plant’s total terpene profile. This terpene can also be responsible for deciding whether a strain is an indica or a sativa. Plants that have more than 0.5 percent myrcene are considered indica while anything with a higher percentage is seen as a sativa.

Myrcene gives cannabis its distinctive scent but it also has medicinal properties. It is a powerful antioxidant making it useful to fight against osteoporosis, strokes, and insomnia. It isn’t unique to the cannabis plant though, you can also find it in mangoes, lemongrass, hops, and thyme.

    Limonene

Limonene smells exactly like you think it would: citrus fruit and peel. It is the second most common terpene found in the cannabis plant. It is what gives citrus its fresh scent and is commonly used in cleaning products.
This zesty terpene smells amazing and has a seemingly endless amount of medicinal benefits. It is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and can help cope with gastrointestinal issues. Not only that, it’s energizing and can help enhance mood.

    Pinene

Pinene is most commonly found in the pine tree and is the smell we all crave around Christmas. It is also found in rosemary, dill, and parsley. This earthy scented terpene is an anti- inflammatory and is used in Traditional Chinese Medicine as an anti-cancer agent. It is also said to help lessen the effects of THC so stock up on pine candles before your next smoke.

    Beta-caryophyllene

Beta-caryophyllene is the only terpene to interact directly with CB2 receptors. It is an anti- inflammatory as well and is shown to reduce body pain. This terpene exists in many beneficial herbs and vegetables like cloves, black pepper, cinnamon, and lavender.

    Linalool

This calming terpene is most recognizable in lavender. It’s known for its anti-anxiety and relaxing effects. Lavender has been used for centuries as an herbal remedy for sleep and stress disorders and linalool is the terpene responsible for these benefits. Linalool is also known to boost the immune system, can reduce lung inflammation, and can restore cognitive and emotional function. You don’t need lavender to find this relaxant though you can also find it in cinnamon, birch, and coriander.

    Humulene

Humulene is most commonly found in hops but is also found in ginseng, sage, cloves, and basil. Like many other terpenes, it is an anti-inflammatory but has proven to be useful in treating many other ailments. This hoppy terpene can help treat asthma, can act as an appetite suppressant, and aids with weight loss.

    Ocimene

This terpene has a woody, herbaceous scent that can also be citrusy. Ocimene repels pests and is thought to have been developed as part of the plant’s defines mechanism. It is not only found in the cannabis plant but also in bergamot, basil, hops, and mangoes.

    Terpinolene

Terpinolene’s largest use is in soaps and perfumes but is naturally found in sage, rosemary, and fir. It has a piney aroma threaded with herbal and floral scents. It smells amazing and is also a central nervous system depressant and is used to induce sleep and reduce anxiety. If this wasn’t amazing enough ut also is an antibiotic, antioxidant, and can help fight against malaria.

    Phellandrene

Eucalyptus is the most common plant known for having high levels of phellandrene. You can probably imagine the fresh, almost pepperminty scent coming from a huge range of beauty products and in the spa. This terpene is the easiest to identify in a lab since it quickly grows large crystals when mixed with a solution of sodium nitrate and glacial acetic acid.! It helps with digestion and fungal infections.

    Sabinene

The final terpene I will tell you about today is the holiday spiced sabinene. It is also found in black pepper, nutmeg, and basil. It is beneficial as a food supplement and an anti-inflammatory.

Healthy, What are Cannabis TerpenesThese are just a few of the most popular terpenes found in the cannabis plant. It’s always beneficial to get something with a large spectrum of terpenes and cannabinoids to harness the full healing effect of this green plant. Take this knowledge and find the perfect strain for you!

  • Can CBD Oil Help Get Rid of Acne?

    CBD Help Acne

If you have tried everything to get rid of acne and still struggle with blemishes, then it might be time to consider CBD for acne. CBD oil has numerous therapeutic benefits that can help clear up your skin, thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial actions.

In this guide, we will address how to use CBD oil for acne, including whether you should use it topically or if you should ingest it for best results. We’ll also discuss how to incorporate a healthy diet into your cannabis acne treatment plan. Read on to learn more about CBD oil and acne.

    Does CBD Help Acne?

CBD Help AcneAcne isn’t only an embarrassing condition – it can also be painful and reduce your quality of life. If you’ve tried different acne treatments, then you know it can get expensive.

Additionally, many over-the-counter products don’t seem to work. Some can even make your skin even more irritated due to harsh chemicals and other inflammatory ingredients.

According to research published by Harvard, adult acne is caused by four primary factors: bacteria, inflammation, pores becoming clogged by skin cells that are “sticky,” and excess oil production.

Other factors that may cause adult acne include stress, hormones, and a woman’s menstrual cycle – all of which may cause excess oil production. The type of hair products, skincare products, and makeup you use can also cause acne as it may clog pores. Lastly, diet plays a role in the development of acne as it may cause inflammation throughout the body.

Most acne treatments are designed to control excess oil production and clear pores to keep skin clean and blemish-free. Research shows that CBD oil may be able to reduce acne naturally.

According to one study, CBD oil contains lipostatic, antiproliferative, and anti-inflammatory effects, which may be able to help prevent acne due to its ability to reduce oil production.

Specifically, the study found that CBD prevents excessive lipogenesis or oil production induced by “pro-acne agents” in human sebocytes, meaning that it can be used as an acne treatment for oily skin.

CBD Help AcneCBD oil also reduces inflammation, which can be used to help heal damaged skin associated with acne, as well as antibacterial properties to stop the spread of acne-causing bacteria on the skin.

Another more recent study found that the endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays an important role in maintaining skin homeostasis and barrier function, and its dysfunction has been linked to various skin disorders, including itching, acne, hair growth and loss, hyper and hypo-pigmentation, and atopic dermatitis.

The study reiterated that CBD may be able to reduce acne in one of three ways:

    • It contains antimicrobial effects that inhibit the growth of acne-causing bacteria on the skin, keeping pores clean and clear
    • It contains anti-inflammatory properties and was found to prevent pro-acne mediators from elevating
    • It prevents human sebocytes from overproducing oil, again keeping the pores clean and clear

Additionally, CBD appears to be gentle enough for most skin types. Because it’s naturally derived from plant compounds, cannabis may be the solution to your acne problems if your skin becomes irritated from over-the-counter medications and treatments that contain harsh chemicals.

How To Use CBD Oil For Acne

CBD Help AcneIn addition to being gentle on skin, CBD oil can be used in a variety of ways to reduce acne. You can use it topically for its antibacterial effect as well as orally to heal your skin from the inside out.

One thing you may want to keep in mind when applying any oil to your skin is that it may worsen your condition if you already have skin that is prone to excessive oil production.

However, many people find that using CBD oil topically for acne does not create a problem as it naturally counteracts excess oil production. Plus, it contains antibacterial properties to fight bacteria that cause acne.

If you’re concerned about using CBD oil on your skin, you may want to try using CBD oil topically in a small area of your skin first to see how it affects you.

You can make your own CBD acne cream by combining CBD oil with a carrier oil and applying it directly to your face. We suggest using coconut oil because it also contains antibacterial properties and anti-inflammatory actions that help reduce acne.

Here’s how to make your own CBD acne cream at home:

    1. Invest in a high-quality CBD oil from cold-extracted sources

This ensures that your oil will contain the more therapeutic bioactive compounds necessary for reducing acne. Oil products that are heated to high temperatures will not contain as many of the healing nutrients that CBD has to offer.

    2. Choose a carrier oil

Some people apply CBD oil directly to their face without any problems. However, if you have sensitive skin, then consider mixing your CBD oil with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil.

    3. Apply to skin after washing your face (or acne-prone area)

Make sure to wash your face or skin first before applying the CBD cream. This ensures that you have removed all dirt, oil, and bacteria so that it does not get trapped in your pores when you apply the cream.

    4. Eat an anti-inflammatory diet

Last but not least – it’s important to eat an anti-inflammatory diet that supports your acne regimen. Diet is a major contributor to inflammation and decreased skin health.

Cutting out foods from your diet that may cause acne and inflammation – such as dairy, refined sugars and grains, gluten, alcohol, and grains or legumes – is just as important as using a topical solution.

Eating an anti-inflammatory diet helps improve your skin barrier from the inside out. Be sure to eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, omit sugar and junk food, and take supplements that may contribute to healthy skin, such as probiotics, omega 3’s, and yes – even CBD oil!

Healthy, Vegan Cannabis Recipes for A Groovy Summer

Get healthy this summer with these wholesome cannabis recipes that will leave you feeling incredible inside and out. The best medicines are herbal remedies and plant-based foods so combining them just makes sense. Whether you’re a pro in the kitchen or not these plant-based cannabis recipes are simple. This way you can spend more time enjoying your creations than cooking.
    Let’s Get Started!
For our recipes and countless others, there needs to be a cannabis oil base of some sort. Throwing a handful of buds into a meal won’t give the soothing effects that you’re looking for and definitely won’t taste great. Coconut oil is an ideal option and works as an alternative for butter. You can also check out Twisted Extracts Take and Bake oils at Pure Green Express. These oils were created for baking & cooking and are an easy option if your thinking about making homemade, tasty edibles.

Cannabis Coconut Oil Cannabis Coconut Oil

    Ingredients
    • 1 1/4 cups Coconut Oil
    • 1/2 ounce Cannabis Bud
    • 4 cups Water
There are many different ways you can approach making this herbaceous oil. My favourite method is in an instant pot or slow cooker. This method will be easy and scent-free, unlike the stovetop method. If you don’t mind (or really enjoy) the skunky smell floating through your home then this will work for you! Put everything in a saucepan and bring to a boil then simmer
    for about 3 hours.
Once your concoction is cooled down it’s time to strain out the plant material. Use cheesecloth and pour it into a large container or bowl. After this, pour around 3 cups of boiling water through it as well to collect all those delicious oils. You don’t need the plant pieces the oil was extracted from so this can be tossed with the cheesecloth.
Leave your bowl of oil and water to cool down and when you return it will be simple to scoop off the separated oil and store it to use in recipes.

    • 1/4 Cup of Maple Syrup
    • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract

    1. The first thing we need is a waffle maker! If you don’t have one, hopefully, you have a friendly neighbour that can lend you one for the day.
    2. Whisk together the flax meal and water. This is going to be our replacement for eggs as it acts as a binder in the same way.
    3. Add the apple cider vinegar to 1 cup of your alternative milk and wait until it becomes thick and curdled after around 15 minutes.
    4. In another bowl mix together all of the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder).

    6. Get the batter into the waffle iron and when nice and golden brown you’re ready to eat! Add your favourite toppings like syrup and fruit.

    • 1/3 cup Coconut Flakes (optional)
    • 1 tbsp Plant-Based Milk

    3. While warm, stir in the cereal and coconut until everything is evenly mixed.
    4. Flatten your mixture into your lined pan and refrigerate for 10 minutes.

  • How To Hide Your High

    How To Hide Your High

If there is one thing that weed users can agree on, it’s that nothing beats a good high!

    How To Hide Your High

If there is one thing that weed users can agree on, it’s that nothing beats a good high! However, there are situations in which you may need to know how to not act high, such as at work or school. You may even need to know how to act normal when high around some family members.

In this guide, we will show you how to act normal while high so that you can still enjoy your high as well as all the health benefits of weed without drawing attention to yourself. Lets get started!

    How to Hide Being High

How To Hide Your HighWhile there are certain public situations in which it’s perfectly acceptable to be high – such as at a weed-friendly concert or casual social gatherings – there are many instances that require you to hide your high. You may even need to hide your high from certain people, such as your boss or your family members.

With this in mind, it’s important to note how weed smokers act when they are high to help better disguise yourself. Here are some common mistakes many people make while being high in public:

    • Smelling like weed: Sometimes it’s easy to spot a stoner based on the scent of weed in the area, even before you see someone who looks high. Weed has a very distinct scent that tends to engulf everything around you, including your clothes, breath, car, and all of your personal belongings.
    • Having red eyes: Some people have red eyes, droopy eyelids, or glazed over eyes when they are high. This is a huge give-away when it comes to hiding your high.
    • Unusual behavior: Have you ever tried to act like you aren’t high when you really are? It’s hard to do. Many people associate certain behaviors and body language with being high. The way you act is a dead give-away!
    • Dressing like a stoner: Some people would say that they can spot a stoner a mile away based on how they dress. If you want people to perceive you as a professional, then it’s best to dress like one. Leaving the 420 shirts at home is a good idea when you are trying to hide your high.
    • Talking like a stoner: When you’re high, you may talk differently than when you are not high. This may include using stoner slang, slurred speech, or talking slower than usual.

How To Cover Up Being High

How To Hide Your HighIt’s not always easy to cover up your high. You may need to pay special attention to both your appearance and your behavior. Here are some tips to keep in mind the next time you need to know how to act normal when you’re high:

    • Cover up the smell

Smelling like weed is probably the biggest indicator that you’re high. One of the many reasons why people love weed is because of its pungent, Earthy smell. However, the instant people smell it, they assume you are high.

Weed tends to linger on your skin, clothes, and basically everywhere. If you want to get rid of the smell of weed, then consider changing clothes, showering, brushing your teeth, or airing out your car before you meet up with anyone.

    • Be cautious about your appearance

Most people expect stoners to look a certain way. You don’t have to fit the stereotype, even if you are high. Be sure to dress nicely. Leave the baggy jeans and oversized clothes at home and dress presentable wearing professional clothes that fit. In other words, leave your 420 apparel at home and save those weeds socks for later.  It’s also better to overdress, especially if you are going to work or somewhere that you need to look nice.

    • Don’t talk if you don’t have to

This is a good tip to use anytime you are trying to hide your high. Sometimes, when you’re high, you might speak differently than when you’re not. This includes using slang that stoners use, like “dude.” If you’re ever uncertain about how you come across to others, then it’s best to play it safe and stay quiet or listen more than you talk. You may end up slurring your speech, talking slowly, or saying something to indicate that you are high, which could get you in trouble at work!

    • Carry eye drops

Eye drops are a good thing to carry around if your eyes tend to get red when you’re high. Add a few eye drops to your eyes before you have to meet up with anyone who might be able to tell you’re high when you don’t want them to. If you’re in an outdoor setting, you may also be able to get away with wearing sunglasses. However, wearing sunglasses indoors may seem suspicious and can make people think you are trying to high your eyes for a reason!

    • Try to stay calm

Depending on where you live, weed may be perfectly legal. If so, then it’s best to relax and realize that people probably don’t care if you’re high. Weed is becoming increasingly popular, thanks to its many proven health benefits. This means that there are probably more people walking around high than you realize!

How To Hide Your HighTry to relax and not worry so much about your high. This might be the best way to hide your high or otherwise suspicious behavior. Remember that if weed is legal in your area, then you aren’t doing anything wrong and there is no reason to high your high at all! Staying calm and cool is always your best defense.

  • CBD Is the Key to Long, Healthy Locks

CBD Is the Key to Long, Healthy Locks

Everyone has bad hair days but what if there was a product that could reduce the number of times you have to wear a hat to the shops. CBD has been gaining popularity in the beauty world as it earns its reputation for creating longer, thicker, more hydrated hair. Whether you want to combat hair loss or hydrate your hair CBD is the perfect product for you.

    What is CBD

CBD is naturally occurring in the body and it imparts a feeling of relaxation and calm without the “high” associated with cannabis. It isn’t only an incredible hair supplement though; CBD is widely used as a natural medication for a variety of different ailments. It is proven to treat epilepsy, anxiety, depression, and pain caused by inflammation. We didn’t just discover CBD recently; people have been using it for centuries.

Soothing CBD For a Dry Scalp

A happy scalp leads to happy hair so what happens when you find yourself itching a dry head? CBD oil is the superhero of this story bringing that moisture back into the hair shafts while reducing inflammation of the scalp. This means it can help combat unwanted dandruff and eczema.

“CBD made waves in the beauty industry for its amazing benefits to the skin, and your scalp is no different,” Alli George, the marketing manager at Daintri, an online mecca for all things CBD, adds. “It’s regenerative for the skin, so it helps the scalp maintain necessary things to keep it healthy, like good blood circulation and quelling dandruff and sore or irritated hair follicles.”

    CBD for long, healthy hair

Whether you’ve noticed a bit of thinness around your hairline recently or you want to add some inches more quickly than CBD is for you. Depending on what your hair goals are the way you take this bliss molecule might change.

Orally: Taking CBD orally can mean different things to everyone. This is definitely the most fun method because the options are endless. CBD is a natural medication known for reducing anxiety and improving sleep. This is beneficial for all aspects of your life, including your hair.

When you aren’t getting enough sleep your body creates extra cortisol which is responsible for weight gain and hair loss. CBD will help get those cortisol levels down to help reduce hair loss.

Topically: This method is more targeted towards your specific hair needs. When applied directly to your hair the benefits are easy to see right away.

    1. CBD is an anti-inflammatory which is where many of its medicinal benefits stem from. For your hair, this means that it’s healing the scalp while reaching sebaceous glands which are responsible for secreting oil. This oil is important to lubricate your thirsty hair and promotes growth.
    2. CBD oil increases blood circulation and your follicles love it! With all of this extra blood flow comes more nutrients that are delivered right to your hair. It also helps remove harmful toxins which will help your hair grow more quickly while looking luscious and healthy.

  • Does Smoking Weed Impact Lung Health?

    Smoking Weed and Lung Health

If you have been putting off smoking weed because you’re scared of lung damage, then you can breathe a little easier today!

Research shows that smoking marijuana does not negatively impact your lung performance – and it may even help your lungs a little by giving them a workout.

In this article, we’ll discuss what research says about smoking marijuana and lung health, and what you can do to preserve lung health while still enjoying the benefits of weed if you have concerns.

    Does Weed Hurt Your Lungs?

Smoking Weed and Lung HealthUsing cannabis has numerous health benefits. It has been shown to help reduce depression, anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain, and more.

However, if you’re worried about what smoking weed can do to your lungs, then you’re not alone. After all, smoking cigarettes is associated with an increased risk of lung cancer, so many people associate weed with the same consequences.

According to an article published by Harvard Medical School, moderate consumption of weed does not impact lung health. These findings were published in a 2012 study in The Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

Researchers determined that smoking one joint per day for seven years does not negatively affect lung functioning. In fact, the study indicated that smoking marijuana may even be good for your lungs and chest because it gives them a workout, so to speak.

In the study, the researchers focused on whether smoking weed long-term had the same impact on lungs as tobacco use. Specifically, they wanted to know if it increased the risk of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

It was noted that the smoke of tobacco and marijuana are made of many of the same substances. However, the results of the study had interesting results, indicating that there is no evidence to show that marijuana use decreases lung function.

Smoking Weed and Lung HealthHere are some of the key findings of the study:

    • Researchers assessed the subject’s current use as light, moderate, or heavy. Lifetime tobacco usage was measured in pack-years. One pack-year is the same as smoking 20 cigarettes per day for a year (7,300 cigarettes). Marijuana use was measured in joint-years. One joint year equals one joint or one pipe bowl per day (365 joints).
    • Subjects were asked to inhale as deeply as possible and exhale into a device that measured the volume of air blown into it to determine their lung function. The devices used forced vital capacity (FVC) – or the total amount of air blown into the device until the lungs were empty – and forced expiratory volume (FEV1) – the amount of air pushed out of the lungs during the second exhale – as measures of lung function.
    • Results indicated that for cigarette smokers, lung function decreased the more cigarettes they smoked per day. However, the marijuana users saw improvements on their lung function tests in moderate (one per day) usage. It was noted that marijuana users’ lung scores worsened when they smoked more than this (10 joint-years).
    • Researchers noted that the way pot is smoked might be the reason why weed may have some benefits. It requires deep inhalation that may stretch lung tissue and expand lung volume, which strengthens the chest wall muscles – allowing pot users to inhale and exhale with more force than cigarette users.

It should be noted that despite these findings, researchers warn against people thinking that smoking weed is good for them. You can certainly improve lung function through aerobic exercise and deep breathing exercises that focus on stretching the lung muscles.

However, this is good news for anyone who may be concerned about smoking one joint per day and the possible effect it may have on their lungs.

How to Use Weed Without Smoking It

Smoking Weed and Lung HealthIf you’re still not sold on the idea that smoking weed isn’t that bad for your lungs, then check out these tips for using cannabis that don’t involve smoking.

    1. CBD oil

Oil  concentrates are an excellent way to use cannabis. You can ingest it to get all the benefits of cannabis without affecting lung health.

Cannabis oils can be added to edibles (gummies, brownies, or other baked goods) or taken as-is. It can also be used topically as an anti-inflammatory agent.

    2. Capsules

Taking weed in capsule form is another good way to bypass the lungs and ensure you’re getting all the health benefits.

You can take CBD capsules or find a capsule that contains your desired amount of THC so that you can still get high.

    3. Edibles – Try a chocolate bar

CannaCo Coco Loco Bars are the PERFECT way to satisfy your sweet tooth while also getting high (and bypassing the lungs).

Smoking Weed and Lung HealthWe recommend enjoying this dessert at night to help you sleep as the cannabis properties are very high! Check out more ways to enjoy weed without smoking it here!

  • 5 Cannabalistic Drinks for Refreshing Summers

5 Cannabalistic Drinks for Refreshing Summers

Cannabis stepped out of the boundaries of mere recreational purposes and is a popular medical solution nowadays. CBD is the new and powerful trend that a substantial percentage of people are aligning to in today’s time. The best part is that its use is just not confined to CBD oil.

According to market surveys, it is available in various forms such as gummies, health products, beauty products, tinctures, and beverages!

When picking a tea for drinking that includes Cannabidiol, the Buddha tea comes with amazing chemistry. Not every CBD-infused herbal tea is similar. CBD oil can leave an oily layer on your tea surface and will not blend in.

Hence, the company utilizes fine, water-soluble powder made from CBD extracts. The CBD extracts are nano-sized particles. Herbal tea is in any way remarkable for your health. The addition of CBD is like a cherry on top, and you will enjoy it!

  • 6 Soothing Drinks For Relaxation

    6 Soothing Drinks For Relaxation

The act of relaxation has become a foreign concept to most of us. Weirdly, we turn to the

online world to tell us what we need to do to feel relaxed. Instead of going through a downward spiral of tips, why not practice the art of being still? There’s no need for a full-blown meditation session here. You can find a quiet space, wear your comfiest clothes and sit in a comfortable chair while you give yourself time to quiet down your harsh inner critic and let your soul do the talking. If you hope to heighten the mood and turn the moment into a genuine soothing experience, consider the following six drinks to accompany you during this moment of stillness.

    Red horn kratom tea

Kratom comes from the plant species known as Mitragyna speciosa, and it grows in Southeast Asia. Many like to compare kratom tea to coffee because it delivers a similar stimulating effect to caffeine. However, kratom benefits go beyond an energy boost. For many generations, people in Southeast Asia have used Kratom to treat health issues such as high blood pressure and diabetes. Some even use this tea to help them ease their opioid withdrawal symptoms.

In low doses, Kratom gives you an energy boost, but it works as a sedative in high doses, making it a great option when you want to relax and appease the noise in your head. Several brands sell Kratom online, so it is best to check out any best kratom vendor available before purchasing the tea to make sure you are investing in a high-quality product.

    6 Soothing Drinks For Relaxation

    Green tea

The benefits of green tea are significant. This unassuming drink can improve brain function, lower the risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, and encourage more fat burning. Its antioxidant properties help prevent chronic disorders such as certain forms of cancer and brighten dull skin. Green tea is soothing for an upset stomach and the perfect, healthy, warm drink to sip while trying to carve out a moment of peace in your day.

    Valerian root tea

Valerian root tea may not have the pleasantest taste of all the teas, but this drink delivers potent anti-anxiety and anti-stress relief. Ideal before bed, valerian root tea has soothing effects, encouraging better sleep and avoiding bouts of insomnia. Moreover, a study showed how this tea could improve GABA levels in the brain. The latter is a compound that works to regulate nerve cells. Doing so lowers symptoms of anxiety and enables us to confront challenges with a calmer demeanor. Ideally, take valerian root tea in the evening, when you aren’t planning on driving or doing strenuous activities, as this tea can make you feel tired.

    6 Soothing Drinks For Relaxation

    Fruit and vegetable juice

A common consequence of fatigue is a lack of proper nutrients in the body. As we lead such on-the-go lives, it’s challenging to sit down and eat a decent meal, so protein bars, caffeinated drinks, and unprocessed food are often our go-to options. But if you hope to unwind while boosting your energy level, then a drink loaded with nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants can deliver powerful results.

Instead of buying ready-made juice, consider whipping up one yourself. A blender or juicer will do the trick. There’s no rule about which vegetables or fruit to go for—whatever combination you prefer is great. If you want to take your juicing game to the next level, try buying organic produce free from harmful toxins and other chemicals that will only cause more fatigue.

    Banana almond smoothie

This one falls under the former point, but it’s worth mentioning because of its two key ingredients. Bananas and almonds come with significant nutrients, which can help ease anxiety symptoms and promote relaxation. Bananas contain the essential minerals potassium and magnesium, which help to alleviate tension in the muscles.

This fruit is also loaded with tryptophan, which generates critical molecules in the body such as serotonin, a natural mood stabilizer that works to lower anxiety symptoms. Similarly, almonds are packed with essential nutrients and antioxidants, and they can stabilize blood sugar levels.

    6 Soothing Drinks For Relaxation

    Warm milk

This one might have never entered your mind, even though you’ve probably had your fair share of warm glasses of milk as a kid. It might not be as trendy as Kratom tea or a latte, but warm milk will always be soothing, nostalgic, and simple—the ingredients required for a drink to deliver relaxation. You can go for the milk of your choice here, whether that’s cow’s milk or almond milk, oat, goat, or cashew milk.

    The bottom line

Although soothing and beneficial for your mental and physical health, these drinks will not magically improve your day. If you’re hoping to achieve relaxation, the simplest way to do so is to accept the moment as it is. It may not be perfect. Then again, life never is.

  • Chefs are Getting Creative with Cannabis: Find Out What’s Cooking!

    Start Marijuana Restaurant

Marijuana has been breaking into the mainstream as a replacement for everything from pharmaceuticals to face serums and clothing fibers. This versatile, green plant and all of its many benefits have people looking for new, creative ways to incorporate it into everyday life. Edibles are always a crowd favourite but when chefs are introduced, the whole experience becomes escalated. These meals aren’t only a stoners paradise, a popular option involves only CBD, the non-psychoactive partner in the cannabis plant. Whatever experience you are looking for these cannabis food artists are here to provide unique, mouth-watering meals.

    A Tailored Experience

Now that cannabis has been legalized, more and more chefs have been looking for a way to incorporate this budding trend into their dining rooms (and yours). In 2019 the National Restaurant Association released a report showing that 77% of the chefs surveyed believed that cannabis, and CBD-infused drinks and food would become one of the top trends in the industry. They couldn’t have been more right! Many people even believe that cannabis may save the suffering restaurant industry by creating something new and exciting that will recapture patron interest. All of this innovation leads to a wider array of options to enjoy your cannabis-infused meal.

Cannabis Restaurants: This may mean different things depending on the chef’s approach to incorporating this green herb into the experience. Like in Amsterdam cafes, there are places to smoke marijuana while eating non-infused menu items. Other places infuse the dishes with THC and/or CBD leading to a whole new variety of flavours. It has been amazing to see how cooks are using this herb like you would any other to create a new layering of aromas and flavours.

dinnerPrivate Events: This has become a wildly popular option since it’s completely customizable to suit your needs. This can include anything from a catered dinner to gourmet edibles, frozen meals, or hot delivery meals. When you choose who you would like to curate this incredible experience you will then discuss menu options and your budget. The best part about these dinners is that each guest will have their personalized, custom meal based around the dose of THC, CBD, or neither they would like. They normally use about 15 milligrams of THC in each dish which throughout the meal averages to about 80 milligrams total. This, of course, can be altered with each guest’s preferences in mind.

    The Magic Of Terpenes

Terpenes are what give plants their different aromas. They’re the fragrant oils that make cannabis- smell like cannabis. If you are a seasoned stoner you will have noticed that different strains have distinctly different smells from skunk to citrus. Terpenes do more than just smell delicious, they can also affect your high. In the kitchen, the flavour profiles are more important than the psychoactive properties of the strain though. Chefs begin by choosing which terpenes will best blend and elevate their dish. Choosing a terpene is like choosing a wine to perfectly pair with your meal, both become better as a pair. One of the most common and popular strains is OG Kush known for having high amounts of the terpenes limonene and myrcene. This gives the buds their distinctive citrusy, hoppy scent and flavour. Knowing this, you can begin to think about what recipe it is best suited for.

What Are The Hottest Cannabis-Infused Options Out There?

So, you’re intrigued and you can’t wait to try this trend for yourself? There are options that will meet every need but I have included two of the most popular cannabis chefs in Canada.

Travis Perterson - chefs getting creative with cannabisThe Nomad Cook

Travis Peterson, from British Columbia, was on Master Chef before he became Canada’s leading weed chef. He travels through the country hosting private cannabis dinners making it accessible to everyone (if you can get a spot), no matter where you live. They take private chefs and allow them to do something out of the ordinary and host cooking lessons, private dinner parties, and pop-up dinners. Keep your eyes open for dinners planned in your area this summer. They will be hosting a 6-course fine dining cannabis-infused dinner for 10 people with 6 seatings per day. This summer the Nomad Cook will be in Victoria, Kelowna, Calgary, and Edmonton for a weekend in May and June. The notable first course will be an incredible opener to an awe-inspiring display of creativity and incredible tastes. Liquid Nitrogen will be put into a wine glass and then frozen so that smoke can be piped into the glass. This will create a fog that is almost thick enough to sip. A piece of smoked Haida Gwaii salmon will be draped over the glass, infusing it with the billowing THC.

    Enlightened Dining Club

cooking with cannabis enlightened diningThis cannabis restaurant is located on Dupont Street in Toronto with admission ranging from 140-160$ per meal. Chef, Ted Corrado, focuses on using seasonal and sustainable ingredients from trusted producers.

“We believe in redefining modern cooking by celebrating the plant as the focal point of a meal, rather than a side-thought,” wrote chef Ted Corrado on the menu.

“For us, that means three things: always following the seasons, shining a light on both beloved and under-utilized fruit and vegetables, and always making use of the whole plant — root to stem. This philosophy allows us to make your dining experience healthier, with many of our dishes featuring adaptogens and superfoods that heighten both flavour and wellness.”

They begin the meal with non-alcoholic cocktails and canapés with about 2mg of THC. The walls have moving images that keep guest’s minds intrigued and sometimes, enthralled. Over the four courses, each diner will consume around 10 milligrams of THC, creating a manageable high to keep conversation flowing. A dessert with high levels of CBD finishes off the meal, mellowing out some of the effects of the THC meal. If you’re in the area, this restaurant is a must-see.

  • How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

At the end of a long day, nothing feels more luxurious than sinking into a warm, relaxing tub.  Adding CBD to the mix will only elevate this delicious ritual and leave you feeling rejuvenated  and pain-free. As this bliss molecule gains popularity the number of beauty companies creating  products is growing and the options are seemingly endless. If you are like me and love to play around and make your own natural products, you are in luck. DIY projects like this are not only more cost-effective but also more FUN!

    What is CBD?

This natural, feel-good chemical is found in cannabis and hemp plants. Unlike its counterpart,  THC, it is non-psychoactive and won’t leave you with the sensation of being “high”. Its  medicinal uses vary and can help people suffering from epilepsy, depression, acne, and body  pain. Another huge benefit is that it can do all of these things and is not addictive, unlike the  traditional pharmaceuticals that are usually prescribed.

    Full Spectrum? What is That?

You may have heard the terms “full spectrum” or “Isolate” get tossed around. If you are new to  the game these labels can be confusing.

Full Spectrum CBD oil: This option is my personal favourite because it not only includes CBD  but also the other 120 cannabinoids found in the marijuana plant. Separately, they are all  beneficial, but together they are unstoppable. This does mean that there are trace amounts of  THC which does not work for everyone.

Broad Spectrum CBD oil: This is your middle-of-the-road product. It has CBD as well as some  of the other cannabinoids, but not all. This is an incredible option if you want extra-curing  cannabinoids without the THC.

CBD Isolate: This is the purest version of CBD as it doesn’t have any of the other compounds in  the hemp plant. This is the best option for skin care as it doesn’t irritate or clog the skin.

The Benefits of Soaking in CBD

There are so many benefits to using CBD in your everyday routines whether it’s applied to your  skin or into a smoothie. A hot bath is the perfect way to unwind and adding CBD only amplifies  those restorative effects. When CBD is applied directly to the skin it bypasses the liver and  goes directly into the bloodstream for faster and more effective relief.

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

    Let’s Get Started!

Most of the ingredients and the mold needed for this recipe are probably already lying around but  some, like the molds, may have to be purchased. I bought mine off of amazon because it was convenient and they had thousands of options that were delivered right to my door within a  couple of days.

    What You Will Need

    1. 1 cup baking soda

    2. 1/2 cup citric acid

    3. 1/2 cup Epsom salts

    4. 1 tsp essential oil

    5. 10-50 mg CBD (always start low and slow and work your way up depending on what best  suits your body.)

    6. 3 tsp olive oil

    7. bowl

    8. whisk

    9. molds

    10. dried flowers (optional)

Now that you have everything you need, let’s start creating! First thing’s first, get all of your  ingredients together on your workstation. There is a lot of wiggle room here to get creative with  your essential oils, colouring, and dried herbs and flowers. I like to keep everything I make very  natural so I used beet( dark red/purple), hibiscus (pink), and calendula (yellow) powder as dye  but alternatively soap dye works amazingly!

Like baking, we are going to start with all of our dry ingredients. In your big bowl whisk together  the baking soda, citric acid, epsom salts, and your dye (if it’s powder form).

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs How To Make CBD Bath Bombs How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

    Now… To Add Liquids

This is where things get a bit more finicky. Make sure to add and mix the liquids in slowly. We  are going to now add our CBD, essential oils, and olive oil. When everything is mixed in, it  should be the texture of wet sand. If it’s too dry add a few sprinkles of water. Be careful if you  choose to do this though, it will help everything stick together better but won’t set properly. The  first batch I made ended up activating and became a bubbly mess that spilled out of the molds.  You may have better luck but I suggest not even adding water. Just start slowly combining the  oil of your choice and CBD oil into the mix. I made some with olive oil, and some with coconut  oil- both worked well.

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

The final step is to put your soothing creation into the molds. I prefer metal, but plastic and  silicone work just as well. I like to add dried flowers into the mold before the mixture to give it  that extra flair. I’ve also used oatmeal, glitter, and herbs and they have all looked exceptional.  In this case, I used a mix of calendula flowers, lavender, and orange peel.

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

Next, we need to let them dry. This was also something that took a lot of trial and error. It may  be easier to let them dry solid in the mold if it is in silicone but this did not work for metal. I let it  form for a couple of minutes and then took it out and lined them on a baking sheet. After this, I  dried them in the oven for a few hours at 200 degrees Fahrenheit. This gives them a better shape and a glossy outside but isn’t necessary.

How To Make CBD Bath Bombs

    You’re Ready To Relax!

Now that you have some stunning, fragrant bath bombs finished you can store them in a dry,  cool place. I keep mine in a container under the sink and they seem to hold up well. The  finished products make great gifts for friends (and for yourself) and are so fun and easy to  make. The options are endless so stay adventurous and play around with different ingredients  and scents.

    Cannabis Cough Drops

Home-made Cannabis Cold RemediesThese herbal cough drops are infused with cannabis to provide extra relief. You can use whatever herbs you would like depending on what flavour and results you are searching for.

This one is my favourite combination but feel free to play around and have fun.

    Ingredients:

    • Herbs of your choice
    • 1/2 cup of cannabis-infused honey
    • 1 cup boiling water
    • Powdered sugar

    1. To get started make a very strong tea with your chosen herbs and reduce it. To make tea pour 1 cup of boiling water over herbs and stir. Let steep for at least 20 minutes before straining.

    • 1 Tbsp Chamomile: This flower is not only beautiful it also has a huge list of medicinal benefits. It can help reduce inflammation and helps with sleep and relaxation.
    • 2 Tbsp of Elderberry: Both the flowers and the berries are packed with immune-boosting vitamins and antioxidants. They also reduce stress, protect your heart, and reduce inflammation.
    • 1 Tbsp of Marshmallow Root: This root is an incredible natural cold remedy alone. It loosens mucous and can help soothe the throat and treat dry coughs.
    • 1 Tbsp of ginger: This root is a perfect addition to treat upset stomachs and it tastes great.

    2. To reduce tea add it to a pot and boil over medium heat. Reduce by half.

    3. In another pot heat these ingredients over medium heat.

    • 1/2 cup of our infused honey and
    • 1/4 cup of our tea infusion.

    4. Use a candy thermometer to ensure you heat your mixture to around 300 degrees. You want it to reach the hard crack stage.

    5. Quickly pour your candy into molds and cool at room temperature.

    6. When cool coat your lozenges in powdered sugar so that they don’t stick together.

Next time you feel a cold coming on pull out these recipes and arm yourself with the power to fight it off more quickly. None of us have the time to sit around for a week feeling awful so keep a stock of these natural remedies handy.

I Want the Benefits Without the High

Cannabis Cold RemediesIf you aren’t looking for the buzz caused by THC then CBD alone is the perfect alternative. You

will still reap the benefits of the cannabis plant but will be able to be clear-headed throughout

the day. You can still use bud by purchasing one of our CBD-rich strains or use a CBD oil or

tincture. Make sure to start your dose off low as CBD can still have some uncomfortable effects

    when you take too much.

If you have tried either of these recipes or other cannabis-infused cold remedies let us
